The economic feasibility of operating at the achievable critical flux under different operating parameters (feed concentration, crossflow velocities and pH) using non-circular channelled membranes has been investigated. The increase in critical fluxes with increasing crossflow velocities is accompanied by increasing axial pressure loss. This leads to substantial increase in the specific energy consumption, reducing the energy-saving potential. Minimum specific energy consumption occurs at the crossflow velocity of 0.9 m s−1 where the trade-off between axial pressure loss and the achievable critical flux occurs. Increasing the feed concentrations and pH led to declining and increasing critical fluxes, respectively. Axial pressure loss remains consistent at feed concentrations <10 g l−1 and increases at feed concentrations >10 g l−1. This is attributed to the change in the viscosity of the suspension which affects the specific energy consumption. The influence of pH on critical flux is attributed to the changes in the titanium dioxide particle charges and coincides with the changes in the viscosity of the suspension. The optimum energy-saving potential was found at pH 9.0. Solution chemistry (particle charges and rheology) and hydrodynamics influence the achievable critical flux and axial pressure loss within these channels which ultimately determine the economics of operation. 相似文献

Analysis of a finite PML approximation for the three dimensional time-harmonic Maxwell and acoustic scattering problems 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider the approximation of the frequency domain three-dimensional Maxwell scattering problem using a truncated domain perfectly matched layer (PML). We also treat the time-harmonic PML approximation to the acoustic scattering problem. Following work of Lassas and Somersalo in 1998, a transitional layer based on spherical geometry is defined, which results in a constant coefficient problem outside the transition. A truncated (computational) domain is then defined, which covers the transition region. The truncated domain need only have a minimally smooth outer boundary (e.g., Lipschitz continuous). We consider the truncated PML problem which results when a perfectly conducting boundary condition is imposed on the outer boundary of the truncated domain. The existence and uniqueness of solutions to the truncated PML problem will be shown provided that the truncated domain is sufficiently large, e.g., contains a sphere of radius . We also show exponential (in the parameter ) convergence of the truncated PML solution to the solution of the original scattering problem inside the transition layer.
Our results are important in that they are the first to show that the truncated PML problem can be posed on a domain with nonsmooth outer boundary. This allows the use of approximation based on polygonal meshes. In addition, even though the transition coefficients depend on spherical geometry, they can be made arbitrarily smooth and hence the resulting problems are amenable to numerical quadrature. Approximation schemes based on our analysis are the focus of future research.

Novel optically active aromatic poly(amide-imide)s (PAIs) were prepared from newly synthesized N,N′-(4,4′-diphthaloyl)-bis-l-isoleucine diacid (3) via polycondensation with various diamines. The diacid was synthesized by the condensation reaction of 3,3′,4,4′-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (1) with l-isoleucine (2) in a mixture of acetic acid and pyridine (3:2 v/v). All the polymers were obtained in quantitative yields with inherent viscosities of 0.20-0.43 dL g−1. All the polymers were highly organosoluble in solvents like N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP), N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), tetrahydrofuran, γ-butyrolactone, cyclohexanone and chloroform at room temperature or upon heating. These poly(amide-imide)s had glass transition temperatures between 198 and 231 °C, and their 10% weight-loss temperatures were ranging from 368 to 398 °C and 353 to 375 °C under nitrogen and air, respectively. The polyimide films had tensile strengths in the range of 63-88 MPa and tensile moduli in the range of 0.8-1.4 GPa. Cellulase distribution between residual substrate and supernatant in the process of enzymatic hydrolysis of steam-exploded
wheat straw was investigated. Subsequently, a novel stepwise recovery strategy with three successive steps was adopted to
recover cellulase adsorbed to the residual substrate. The results showed that cellulase protein in the supernatant increased
as the hydrolysis time increased. When hydrolysis ended, the cellulase remaining on the residual substrate accounted for 33–42%
of the original added cellulase according to the different cellulase loading. To obtain the maximum cellulase recovery rate,
the residual substrate was dealt with in three successive steps: washed with sodium acetate buffer (step 1), shaken with sodium
acetate buffer (step 2), and then treated with 0.0015 mol/L, pH 10 Ca(OH)2 (step 3). The total cellulase protein recovered by the three steps reached 96.70–98.14%. The enzyme activity of cellulase
recovered by the first two steps was kept well. The ratios of the specific activity between the recovered cellulase and the

Nonlinear vortical structures and soliton formation are investigated for electron temperature gradient instability in a two-electron temperature non-Maxwellian magnetoplasma. The inhomogeneity in magnetic field is also considered. A new set of nonlinear equations, using transport equations of Braginskii”s model, are formulated to study the nonlinear structures. A modified linear dispersion relation of coupled electron temperature gradient (ETG) mode and electron acoustic wave is derived. The ETG instability is found to increase with increase in ηec value that increases with sharp density gradients. The results are applied to auroral region of earth's magnetosphere and the calculated values of the nonlinear electric field of fast solitary waves are found to be in agreement with the Viking satellite observations. 相似文献

为了提高声表面波传感器应变灵敏度,该文提出了一种桥型声表面波应变传感器。首先根据受压弯曲构件中应变分布特点设计了桥型声表面波应变传感器,并建立有限元模型,结合微扰法分析了桥型结构几何参数与声表面波应变传感器灵敏度的关系。根据分析结果确定桥型声表面波应变传感器几何结构参数,并与传统声表面波应变传感器的应变灵敏度进行了对比研究,在此基础上搭建受压弯曲微动平台开展实验研究,结果表明:在直梁构件受压弯曲应变测量时,Y34°切向的桥型声表面波应变传感器的应变灵敏度为1692 Hz/με,传统声表面波传感器应变灵敏度为1328 Hz/με,桥型声表面波应变传感器的应变灵敏度较传统声表面波应变传感器有明显提高。 相似文献
